Writing Workshops

Julie Buckles earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch in Los Angeles. She is an instructor at Northland College in Ashland, where she has taught academic writing, fiction, creative non-fiction and a journalism course. She loves working with new writers and takes particular pleasure in watching stories progress from rough drafts into polished pieces. She has taught workshops to adults and young adults.

Paddling the Voyageur Highway
Julie Buckles and her husband Charly Ray paddled 1,700 miles from Lake Superior to Wollaston Lake in northern Saskatchewan and then stayed for the winter. Hear about their adventures as you watch spectacular slides of this incredible wilderness called the Voyageur Highway. They have presented at Canoecopia, Nicolet College, and Uline Shipping Supplies and several other venues.

Dogsledding the Caribou Trails
Julie Buckles and her husband Charly Ray returned to Wollaston Lake in April for three weeks with their new team of Siberian huskies and camped their way along the snowmobile tracks made by caribou hunters. They have presented this slideshow at several venues.
